Sustainability Game
Feedback: ICGD SUS GAME FEEDBACK – Fill out form
A city-building strategy game where the goal isn’t endless growth, but sustainable balance. You must build and manage a thriving city while keeping citizens happy, maintaining energy supply, and preventing environmental collapse. Pollution feeds a global warming tracker that triggers disasters if left unchecked.
How to Play Build Your City:
Place residential, industrial, and utility tiles on a grid. Layout matters—parks boost happiness, industry lowers it, and energy structures power your city.
Manage Resources:
Balance money (from taxes), energy production, and emissions. More growth means more energy use—and more pollution. Choose Your Power Strategy:
- Fossil fuels: Cheap and powerful but highly polluting.
- Renewables: Clean but costly and sometimes unreliable.
- Nuclear: High output and low emissions but risky if mismanaged.
Respond to Crises: Rising pollution increases can be seen in the pollution bar, ensure this doesn't get too high or your happiness level will decrease and your citizens will begin to leave.
Win by Sustaining Balance: Keep emissions under control, maintain citizen happiness, and transition to cleaner energy before environmental collapse occurs to achieve the best possible score you can to see yourself on our leaderboards.
